"ÖCV wird die Verbreitung des Cricketsports in Österreich vorantreiben. Wir werden vor allem unsere Sportart jungen Menschen vorstellen. Es ist unsere Aufgabe, die Nationalmannschaften zu stellen, Nationalligen zu organisieren, österreichische Cricketinteressen im Ausland zu vertreten, sowie unsere Mitglieder in Österreich bei der Jugendarbeit und beim Platzbau zu unterstützen. Wir bilden eine Interessengemeinschaft für alle Mitglieder, wobei sie Ihre Cricketanliegen offen und konstruktiv diskutieren können. Wir heissen Cricketers und Cricketfans in Österreich willkommen!"

Spreading the word about cricket in Austria

The ACA answers media enquiries about cricket as a sport from interested parties, and also uses its contacts within Austria within the press and in sports adminstration to ensure that cricket reaches a wider public.

Prioritising introducing cricket to young people

The ACA sees youth cricket as the way to sustaining interest in the sport. Clubs are urged to run their own youth development programmes as a way of introducing new members to their club, and separate youth teams are starting to form within the more established clubs.

Cricket is officially recognised as a sport by the Federal Ministry for Education, which means that the sport can be taught as part of the State Curriculum in games lessons, which ultimately provides Austrian Cricket with the best way to introduce the game on a wider basis.

Representing Austrian Cricket Interests abroad

The Chairman of the Austrian Cricket Association, Michael Bailey, has been involved with Austrian's representation on a European level - known around European Cricketing Circles as "Statto" due to the fact that he is ultimately a cricket scorer has also given presentations at ECC Administration forums and is actively committed to furthering European Cricket.

Supporting our members in Austria in youth development initiatives and construction of playing facilities.

The Association itself doesn't actually operate its own youth programme, nor does it operate grounds itself, however, it does provide support for clubs undertaking such ventures - using its position as an NGB (National Governing Body) to act on behalf of member clubs. Coaching and umpiring courses are organised through the Association - liaising directly with the European Cricket Council.
