Probably better known off the pitch than on it, Statto has scored and played for Austria, led a tour to Barbados whilst at St Andrews University (Scotland) and was tournament organiser at the ECC Notts Sport Trophy in 2003, having officiated at a number of tournaments since settling in Austria in 2000. Hopes to also become an international umpire, having umpired frequently in Austria, including warm-up games for the national team. Also part-time cricket commentator.
